Residential care options

Become a Resident

Becoming a Resident

To become a resident at Inglewood Care Centre, you must go through VCH. The potential resident’s care level is assessed by a Long-Term Care Case Manager in the community, or in an acute care hospital by a Discharge Planner, to determine their eligibility for admission. The individual will then be put on a wait-list for long-term care.

Please see the Information on Residential Care handbook or visit VCH website for further information on residential care options and to arrange for an assessment with a Case Manager.

VCH Admission Process

Step 1: Contact VCH Intake at 604-986-7111.

Step 2: A Case Manager will conduct an assessment with you for home & community care services.

Step 3: If eligible, you will be put on the wait-list for long-term care.

Internal Transfers at Inglewood

As a resident’s health status changes, the Clinical Team at Inglewood reserves the right to transfer residents between beds to accommodate these needs.

Room Rates at Inglewood

Inglewood is licensed by the Ministry of Health under the Hospital Act and the Health Authority under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act. The government sets the rates that all care homes charge their residents.

The monthly rate will be determined based on an income assessment and is 80% of your net income.

Please note that you will be charged the maximum rate if your taxes are not up-to-date and typically, adjustments will not be backdated.

What Our Residents Say

  • "This was my first job after graduating from Douglas College; I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already! I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. At Inglewood we have the flexibility to try new things and create different programs. The biggest reason that I have stayed this long, is the team that I work with. We are family! "

    Erika Jacks, Recreation Therapist

  • "I love the place. I came here three years ago from the hospital. I wasn’t walking and now I am walking and feeling 80% better than I was on admission. I realized it’s a beautiful place to live, where Inglewood staff feel like family. If you have to be somewhere for the rest of your life, it is a really good place to be. "
